Last week, we broke the news that Monsignor Jim Gehl, pastor of St. Bede's Parish in La Cañada, has been appointed pastor of St. Euphrasia Parish in Granada Hills.
Father Jim, as Gehl is known to his parishioners, will start in his new position July 1.
No doubt, plenty of goodbyes are set to take place in the months preceding his departure.

The final race in the Peco Cross-Country League , hosted by St Bede's AC at Esholt woods, took place in gorgeous, springlike conditions.
Abbey Runners ran out easy winners of the men's league with four runners in the top eight places – beating Ilkley Harriers into second – and so seal the league title over the five-race series.
Will Kerr and Simon Forde from the host club made the top twenty in sixth and 16th, sandwiching their second-claimer, Jon Dawson in ninth.

After a brilliant qualifying round at the Sovereign Centre the Moira House Girls' Swimming Team await confirmation of places in the IAPS National finals on Saturday, May 15.
In an exciting competition with Bodiam Manor, Brighton College, St Bede's, St Andrews and Vine Hall the girls won the Small Schools relay, the U10 and U11 freestyle and medley relays as well as the Small Schools relay.

Seventeen-year-old Alfred Adegbite, tipped for Team GB's rowing squad in the next Olympics, is organising a sponsored 24-hour row in aid of his school's chosen charity.
And six-foot-seven Alfred, who trains five times a week along with other future Olympic squad hopefuls at Salford Quays, is being helped by five-foot-five teacher at the school, Peter Loader.

St Bede's High School is allowing students to log on to its web-based learning platform to cast votes in this week's youth MP elections.
Headteacher Des Callaghan said they new system had increased the turnout and was allowing pupils to make informed choices.

TWO HAILSHAM residents are running the first-ever Brighton Marathon next month to give children in Uganda hope that their mothers will live for another 30 years.
